About MADb
What is MADb?
ModelAircraftDatabase.com (MADb) is a collection of information about model aircraft, including airliners, military aircraft, and general aviation. The project was started by an aviation enthusiast and model collector as a way to document and organize their collection. Now it's available to all collectors and enthusiasts! The Four Principles
MADb was built with the following principles in mind:Modern
It should be fast and responsive.Collaborative
It should involve the community so it can strive for accuracy and completeness.Personal
It should allow users to track and showcase their collection.Independent
It should not be influenced by any manufacturer or retailer.Manage Your Collection
Create an account to manage your collection and share it with others. After you join, just hit the plus sign next to any model to start tracking it. Change the status to easily show what you have, what's in your collection, what you want to sell or trade, and what's on your wishlist. You can even create multiple entries for the same model.
Visit your personal collection page to see your collection. While you're there, add a little something about you and/or your collection that you'd like to share. Or link your socials so people know how to connect with you.
Then you can share your collection with others. Generate a link or some BB code on your collection page to use in the forums. Or keep it simple and use madb.me/yourusername for a short URL.
Striving for Data Integrity
No collection of information can ever be called complete. But we're still going to try. More importantly, though, we want to achieve peak accuracy. The database started with some base information from the major model manufacturers, but it is near impossible to review every bit of that information for accuracy. That's where you come in!We know the model aircraft community knows their stuff. Yes, that means you. Don't be shy. See something wrong? Submit a correction. Just find the associated button on a content page, select the correct information, and submit. It's that easy!
You might see this red icon on some pages. It means that information either needs confirmation or needs to be narrowed down (e.g. to a specific aircraft model). If you can help, please do!
All submittions are reviewed by a moderator in a timely manner before being published. Before submitting, you can add comments and a reference link, both optional, to help speed up the approval process.
